Alum is a transparent salt crystal with the chemical formula KAl(SO₄)₂·12H₂O, or hydrated potassium aluminum sulfate, which dissolves in water and reacts with acids. Using alum is a natural way to help control body odor. It helps care for and moisturize underarm skin while reducing unpleasant smells. Alum works by eliminating odor-causing bacteria, so your body won’t emit a strong odor even when you sweat.

After showering, dry your body thoroughly. Wet the alum stone deodorant by dipping it into clean water for about 3 seconds. Gently rub it onto areas prone to body odor, such as the underarms, between fingers and toes, groin, soles of the feet, or the back of the neck. For best results, apply before exercising or engaging in daily activities. After use, store the deodorant in a clean, dry container. If you’d like to wear perfume, you can use the alum deodorant beforehand to neutralize body odor — this helps ensure your perfume smells fresh and isn’t mixed with sweat.
